DR TEO HONG LEE TERRY
Dr Terry Teo believes strongly in staying healthy and keeping the body moving well. While he enjoys cycling in his free time, he also understands that many patients, from active individuals to those simply trying to stay mobile as they age, want to maintain a lifestyle that feels comfortable and fulfilling. This perspective helps him relate to a wide range of patients, whether they are dealing with a sports-related injury, recovering from a spinal condition, or hoping to return to everyday activities without pain.
Dr Terry is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a specialised focus on spine health. He treats a broad spectrum of spinal conditions, including degenerative spine disorders, spinal trauma, nerve compression, and adult spinal deformity. He is experienced in minimally invasive procedures, endoscopic spine surgery, disc replacement, and advanced spinal instrumentation, and often incorporates technologies such as computer navigation and robotic-assisted techniques to enhance precision and outcomes.
Before moving into private practice, Dr Terry spent many years at Changi General Hospital (CGH), where he served as the Director of Spine Service. During his tenure, he led key advancements in spine care, introducing biportal endoscopic spine surgery and pioneering robotic spine surgery at the institution. As the CGH site chief for the SingHealth Duke-NUS Spine Centre, he also worked closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care for complex spinal conditions.
Dr Terry graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his orthopaedic residency locally. He further developed his subspecialty expertise during a clinical fellowship at the Spine Ortho Clinic in Australia, gaining experience in advanced spine surgery techniques. He holds a Diploma in Spine Surgery from Eurospine and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, as well as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr Terry is committed to education and professional development. He serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, has taught at the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and sits on the Executive Committee of the Singapore Spine Society. In recognition of his contribution to patient care, he has received multiple Singapore Health Quality Service Awards.
Whether helping someone recover from a spinal injury, addressing long-standing back pain, or guiding a patient through minimally invasive surgery, Dr Terry is focused on delivering personalised, evidence-based care that supports each individual’s goals and quality of life.
